A song makes you feel a thought." ~ E.Y. Harburg Whenever I am asked my favorite song, I fly into a panic. How can I choose one? It all depends on the day of the week, the circumstances of the moment, my mood. My favorite songs move me, inspire me, heal me. Some take me on a journey through their narrative. Others are evocative of places, times, and people. With some, it's inexplicable. I can't explain why a particular song makes me giddy — it just does. (Can you relate?) So, I had to recuse myself when asked my favorite song for the Perspectives column in this newsletter. Like a parent with children, I can't pick a favorite without feeling like I've betrayed the others! However, next time you're in the library, drop by my office and ask me for my favorite song at that moment, and I'll happily share it with you! This programming season, we celebrate the power of song. I am delighted to announce what we hope will be an annual event — The CDL Song Fest! I am even more thrilled that Nashville singer-songwriter Paul Burch will be joining us for this event. It's going to be extraordinary. I hope to see you there! PS: Don't even get me started about favorite bands and artists… Lori Coryell CDL Director On the Cover Donations The Chelsea District Library acknowledges the great importance of private gifts and donations to the library's future development and growth.
