Ledebur To make a donation, visit Most times, when we reflect on the theme of building a bet- ter world, we tend to focus on monumental efforts that re- quire substantial tools like stores of time, energy, and labor. I am so grateful for the folks who employ these tools to take on those great tasks to make this world a better place. How- ever, it's also encouraging to remember that small acts can also effect positive change. These "small wonders" happen every day all around us and require tools that we can all access easily and readily. Sometimes a compassionate ges- ture and a kind word are all that are needed to make us feel more connected to each other and make our communities better places to live, work, and play. We all have it in us to be builders of a better world. I am delighted to share the following quote about the simplest of tools to building a better world — your smile. "A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poor- er those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give." ~ Author Unknown Lori Coryell CDL Director SUMMER 2017 What's in Our Toolbox?
