2 Spring | Welcome to our newly designed newsletter full of articles, resources, programs, and much more! Our mission at Chelsea District Library is to Engage, Inspire, and Equip through evolving services and resources. We hope that as you turn the last page, you will have found we've done just that! I have always loved stories. Since I was a little kid I have gotten lost in them — stories on the printed page, stories told in comic strips, movies, poems, television, conversations, even songs. Stories are powerful things! They engage and beguile, entertain and amuse. They even inspire us. They foster imagination and creativity. They can be crafty, instructive things, revealing valuable lessons wrapped in enchanting packages — who would venture into the dark woods alone after hearing the tale of Little Red Riding Hood? We sometimes see ourselves reflected in a story, and there have been times that this recognition has been salvation for me. Stories also help us look outward and can be remarkable tools for encour- aging empathy and compassion. As houses of stories, it's no wonder I was drawn to work in public libraries! I am so pleased that this issue of the CDL Newsletter celebrates all that stories have to offer at the Chelsea District Library. We are delighted to share these gifts of stories with you.
