2 Fall Time flies! It's hard to believe that it has been ten years since construction was completed on the expanded Chelsea District Library facility. This 18,000 square foot, newly-constructed addition to the original, historic McKune House opened its doors to the community for the first time in November 2006. It's inspiring to think of all the materials that have been checked out, read, or viewed; all the programs that have been presented to the delight of patrons of all ages; all the computer hours logged in search of education, employment, and entertainment; all the questions answered; and all the interpersonal connections that were made in that span of time. To celebrate this ten-year milestone, we are having a party! Please join us on Thursday, August 18 (the final evening of Sounds & Sights) for an anniversary party from 6:30–8:30 pm. We're planning some really fun activities and delicious treats to mark the occasion, so please plan to stop by. It's exciting to think about what the next ten years will have in store for the Chelsea District Library and the community it serves. Very soon, we will begin to strategically plan for the next three years. Your input is essential to this visioning and goal-setting process. You will help shape the services and resources we offer. Together we will build a future that continues to improve upon the accomplishments of our past. My pledge to you is to continue this library's grand tradition of providing opportunity to everyone who walks through its doors. Our collective future holds so much promise, and I am delighted to be a part of that journey with you. My thanks go out to all of you who share in the rich history of our library and are invested in its future success! Lori Coryell Director's chair D 10 LE T ' S C E L EB RA TE !
